About Yatzy

The rules are simple, you want to have the most points at the end of the game (like in Categories). To do this, you roll 5 dice three times in a row each round, out of a total of 13 rounds. You can put the dice aside after each roll to combine them later.

Tips and Tricks

In a game of yatzy, always prioritize your upper section bonus, it is a perfect headstart. In the upper section, the higher numbers are the perfect cushion. Try to get three of fours, fives, and sixes. Best be down in the lower numbers than in the higher numbers as much as dice are the major determinants. It is important for you to read the game. You should be able to observe as the game pattern changes and adapt your strategies accordingly. A positive mentality keeps you focused even when the game gets tough.

Yatzy score can be a major game-changer. Best you leave it open for the most part of the game. As long as the yahtzee remains, there is a high possibility of turning the game around at your next rolling chance. So keep it open, it could save the day.

When the chips are down, and the game just doesn’t seem to be going your way, if you are unable to get the right combinations for the high scores, you can always fall back on your ones and chance. Nobody gets a score of zero in chance. The least you can get is five. Five of 1s is still a yatzy. Both, if used wisely, can keep you safe. Most importantly, never give up. Always approach every roll with optimism.
